AUSE is the Italian member of ECSA Europe-World and represents over 200 professors and researchers. It was founded in 1989, in the same year in which the Action Jean Monnet was launched.
Its main goals are the following:

1. promote teaching and research on European integration in the italian university system;

2. develop co-operation among its Members and, through them, among universities throughout the world;

3. manage transnational research programmes and technical assistance, organise conferences and stimulate networks of academic co-operation, make available its expertise in relation to curricula and programmes and carry out studies in the area of European integration;

4. disseminate information on university activities relating to teaching and research on European integration through publications and by establishing, managing and contributing to an interactive communication network on internet.

Within this framework AUSE gathers leading professors and researchers specialised in EU studies coming from four different areas: economics, political science, law and history, and committed to interdisciplinary relationships. The Association throughout the years has organised a large number of seminars, congresses and workshops dedicated to relevant topic in the EU studies field. It also organises the AUSE Summer School.

Current President is prof. Marco Mascia; Secretary General prof. Francesco Velo. Past Presidents: Professors Antonio Papisca, Dario Velo, Daniela Preda.
